John LeRoux, Lean Practice Consultant

About Lean Practice

I started working in the medical sector 15 years ago, first for a biomedical company, then running a multidisciplinary group practice, and now as a Practice Consultant.

I have a passion for solving problems that make a difference, and my background in Mechatronics Engineering offers me a unique perspective and broad set of tools that I bring to the table.

I got into the clinical practice space when I joined a group mental health practice following the unexpected departure of their third Director of Operations. The owner was grappling with burnout. The team was working tirelessly to hold it together. They were growing, but that was compounding their problems even faster.

I brought my toolkit from my past roles in quality control, process automation, and continuous improvement and set to work. We automated, delegated and eliminated tasks to reduce the owner's workload by over 40% — tasks that weren't driving their passion or their practice. We then reinvested that time to double down on quality care, therapist support, and systemitized quality. We improved client care and satisfaction, staff compensation and retention, all the while improving profitability. Then when the founder was ready for their next chapter, I negotiated a successful exit from the company. This transformation was driven by a focus on the philosophy of Lean and the Kaizen methodology of continuous improvement at every layer of the organization.

How I Can Help

For the past six years, I have applied this systematic approach to help medical and paramedical practices tame their clinics, so you can get back to why you started your practice.

I believe what's good for you, and what's good for your team, is good for your patients. Taking care of yourself and your team is the way to bring out the best in them, which is what your patients need and deserve.
